Too celebrate the Queens Diamond Jubilee the Woodlands trust is going to plant 100,000 trees in 460 acres of land.

It’s a better way to commemorate the Queens 60 years on the throne then just throwing a couple of parties and having a few special programmes about her time on the throne.

To help cover the cost of the trees and to keep their land protected the woodlands trust is selling off each tree for £20, which you can dedicate to any one you want.  Something that will last longer then you and your living love for that person. Not that I am naïve enough to think that it would stand forever. Sadly things don’t work out like that. But having these tress planted and dedicated to people to make somewhere nice for people to spend a day or just go for a short walk is a wonderful idea, and in a way brings nature closer to us.

There isn’t a limit on the number of trees you can have planted per house hold. You get a welcome pack through the post to let you know where your tree is planted, what type of tree it is and a certificate which tells you exactly what will be recorded for all of history in the royal ledger for the woodlands.

If you dont fancy spending £20 in one go on a tree you could get 21 copies of the Daily mail between now and the 6th march. Take the coupons, send them off and if your one of the lucky few selected at random you get to have your tree planted in their section of the woodland.  And have the chance to get more trees for the soecial offer price of £15 each. Or have a sapling sent to your address for you to plant.

Which is a good idea but if you dont have a garden you can plant a tree in not really useful. Plus it means buying the Daily Mail. Its one thing to read the odd articule online just to see what shite they are trying to peddle this week.

All though they do have a handy little link on their website to get 20% off the price of a years membership. Something I think my little man may like. An excuse to go places where he can get muddy and no one shout at him for it. Plus they will send him stickers through the post. which is what every three year old wants. lots of stickers to put everywhere.
